This december 10th, the local stakeholders, were invited by the senator Vall to a meeting dedicated to design the Gers hemp building field.
" Climate changes urge us to move our mind and our attitude towards future and sustainability. Organic hemp production and local uses in building is a real experience of what should be engaged at local scale to fight gobal issues. Our area that pretend to be innovative have to gather all the energies, tools and means to get hemp building as a reliable alternative on the markets. And the local and regional authorities have to be leader in that way." said senator Vall.
To summerize, the talks, all the stakeholders agreed that in 2011, the first and demonstrative hemp building have to be launched as a signal for the whole local market that to be informed and trained to this new material.
Then M. Nicolas Meliet, organic hemp farmer and mayor of Lagraulet, invited the group to a demonstration of modern use of hemp and lime concrete : mechanical projection.
As social housing is also involved in some hemp project, we hope that we won't have to fight a lack of hemp soon :-)
